No.  Commercial drivers are subject to much more stringent penalties and consequences given the nature of their work.  As a Redondo Beach DUI Attorney I have had the occasion to witness many unsuspecting defendants plead guilty to DUI only to later learn that they will lose their commercial drivers license for at least one year and possibly forever.  You see, California law treats commercial drivers differently than others when a DUI conviction occurs.  First, they will be disqualified from commercial driving for one year upon arrest unless they request a timely DMV hearing.  Second, they will be suspended for a period of one year up to life if they are subsequently convicted of drunk driving in Court.  Further harsh penalties are in store for those that refuse to take chemical tests, drive DUI while in a commercial vehicle ( which by the way has a lower BAC limit than non-commercial .04%) and have prior convictions.  The bottom line is that any person facing a DUI DWI or any drunk driving and possess a CDL, have to contact a California DUI Lawyer immediately.
